According to Burnley Express, Burnley was the second most dangerous place in the North West behind Crewe which had an unsafe gas appliance percentage of 17%. The campaign was part of a wider operation during which the Gas Safe Register checked more a number of home gas appliances in the North West region. The authority also investigated illegal gas fitters in the area, highlighting that 10% of homes were left in a seriously dangerous condition, needing immediate attention. In these houses, the gas supply had to be switched off immediately.

Renowned for their Forest Hill Plumbers, We Fix Now is also first choice for fully trained gas engineers throughout London and the surrounding counties. The team work hard to promote gas safety in the home and were prompted to issue the following advice.

“It is clear that higher awareness of gas safety is needed in the North West, particularly Burnley. It is imperative that people get their gas appliances such as ovens, checked at least once a year. As this investigation showed, it could be life-saving- if the Gas Safe Register team hadn’t arrived at some of these houses, leaks and explosions could have followed.”
