Pelican Cove is a “shining example of a simple concept that teaches so much. That is why we are so excited to add Pelican Cove to our line up. It is truly a very special game.”

SimplyFun is proud to announce its 100th product release with an exciting new game called Pelican Cove. This game is just another example of what SimplyFun does best, taking basic learning concepts and highlighting them in a fun and unique way for children and adults.
In Pelican Cove, players have the opportunity to experience algebraic concepts without using any numbers or operators. During the game players solve for one or more unknowns trying to make the ‘equation’ work so that all the pelicans find a specific place to nest according to their preferences. It is a wildly deceptive game where players think that more time will create a more accurate result. But usually the first solution is the best solution. And players learn quickly to just place those pelicans and walk away! What better way to help kids understand (and like) algebra than to take every number out of the learning process. President and CEO, Patty Pearcy states that Pelican Cove is a “shining example of a simple concept that teaches so much. That is why we are so excited to add Pelican Cove to our line up. It is truly a very special game.”
Pelican Cove lives up to SimplyFun’s product promise for learning content, ease and quality in ways that might not be expected by parents. The game contains a number of different level cards and a two-sided board to allow players of different skills to all play together and be challenged. The rules are minimal (as the Pelicans do the entire rule setting) and can be played non-verbally for children that may have special challenges. The game also plays in rounds to allow parents to manage the time, playing longer or shorter based on the families busy schedule. These product features are what make SimplyFun games a unique experience.
SimplyFun congratulates its hard working product development team who achieved a record in 2012 by creating 20 new games and winning 54 individual product awards. From the early days of SimplyFun product development creating Butterfly puzzles and Squared Ups to a product catalog filled with complex and challenging games like Katachi and Triage, the SimplyFun line up continues to grow. For 2013, SimplyFun plans to add another 15 to 20 products that can help make learning fun and keep families engaged in healthy play.

SimplyFun THE parental resource for using play to build smarter kids. We know that all kids face challenges as they learn, but sometimes the places that they are stuck are not immediately obvious. When parents play with their kids, they can observe their skills first hand and identify areas that will be blockers to success. For example, a young child may be able to sight identify the letters of the alphabet but that same cannot actually sequence the letters in order. Many parents think this is the same skill because as adults we use them together. But the actual identification and ordering are two different processes. Parents would be surprised how often the child can do the first skill but not the second one. Sequencing is a key skill in early reading, but also in early math. We know that our products can help parents help their kids, whether their children are gifted, exceptional, challenged or just plain normal! Each child can still take a step forward in developing their skills from where they are today, and we know how to make that step FUN.
