The Guinness Book of World Records will be present to certify the fastest ever set of sculptured acrylic nails at NAILPRO Competitions, April 21, 2013, in Pasadena, California.

"Imagine a floor full of the top competitors in the industry. You're got to have skills, you've got to be fast--you've got to shape and sculpt with a special tool and not make a mistake." Jewell Cunningham, NAILPRO Competitions Director

NAILPRO Competitions is hosting the Guinness Book of World Records Certified "Fastest Full Set of Acrylic Sculptured Nails" on April 21, 2013, at NAILPRO Pasadena in the Pasadena Convention Center.

"The Fastest Nails" will be documented according to strict standards of the Guinness World Records organization. Nail technicians will compete to complete a full set of pink and white sculptured acrylic nail enhancements, or pink-and-whites, as quickly as possible, using forms only (nail tips are not allowed).

Pink-and-whites refer to the color pink at the base of the nail and the color white on the tip. The white refers to the free edge length which is achieved by sculpting with white acrylic nail enhancement products.

"Imagine a floor full of the top competitors in the industry. You've got to have skills, you've got to be fast -- you've got to shape and sculpt with a special tool and not make one mistake," says Jewell Cunningham, NAILPRO Competitions Director. "We've been working with Guinness for two years to bring this together and offer our competitors the renown and recognition they deserve."

"Time is money! And competitions like 'The Fastest Nails' quicken my time in the salon," says competitor Amy Becker, former NAILPRO Cup champion and current U.S. Gel Nail Champion for her third consecutive year. "When nail technicians compete, our work in the salon improves. Clients notice."

NAILPRO Competitions are the nail industry's most longstanding and prestigious competitions. Nail technicians compete not only at NAILPRO nails-only trade shows but at NAILPRO-operated competitions at the largest trade shows in the beauty industry, culminating in June at the NAILPRO Cup, held in Las Vegas every year.

"We're competitive, but we teach each other. I have nail friends everywhere," says Azumi Kanene, a first-place winner in multiple nail categories, including Sculptured Nails, Salon Success, Tip & Overlay Nails, and Soak-off Gel Manicure. "Because I'm practicing for 'The Fastest Nails,' my work for my clients improves, too. I learn about new products that I use to do nails better."

One of the flagship magazines of Creative Age Publications, NAILPRO is the premier trade publication for nail salon owners and professionals in all areas of the nail industry.

"I've competed in many different competitions and NAILPRO is by far the very best around," Becker says. "Everyone at the NAILPRO Competitions has worked many years on their rules and regulations, judging and scoring. I've seen it firsthand as a judge myself. Top competitors come from around the world to compete because of NAILPRO's stellar reputation."

Creative Age Publications include Beauty Store Business, Beauty Launchpad, The Colorist, DAYSPA, MedEsthetics, Surgical Aesthetics, INSPIRE Books and the recently launched Nail It!, the first consumer magazine for nails. These publications reach nearly half a milllion beauty professionals every month in all segments of the beauty industry: full-service salons • hair salons • nail salons • day spas • medical spas • resort & destination spas • open-line beauty stores • distributors • manufacturers' representatives • and more.
