Private Investigator give information on GPS tracking services in light of recent Telegraph article dated 14th March 2013 where two brothers are jailed thanks to a tracker: CCTV shows thieves steal BMW in less than 15 seconds

these brothers were lucky to have stolen as many cars as they did with all the crime prevention modern technology available. An expensive vehicle like a BMW should be fitted with a GPS tracker for the owner’s peace of mind

Private Investigator have been using GPS tracking devices with great success for many years and believe it is a cost effective safe guard for expensive cars such as the BMW in the article. According to a recent article in the Telegraph, West Midlands Police have released a CCTV video of two brothers stealing a BMW 118D in less than 15 seconds from a hotel car park in Ladywood, Birmingham. The BMW was just one of 13 cars the pair stole in 20 days, worth almost £250,000 altogether. The BMW was fitted with a hidden tracking device which led the police to the brother’s garage in Brierley Hill’s Old Bush Industrial Estate in Birmingham.

The Telegraph report goes on to say that the two men were sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court to four years imprisonment for conspiracy to steal motor vehicles (case reference T20127261 Ajay Soni and T20120726 Ravinder Soni).

The Telegraph report states that Investigating officer DC Matt Dyer from West Midlands Police said:

“This was an organised, sophisticated operation with high performance cars being stolen in less than 60 seconds. Their method of entry was somewhat rudimentary but once inside they clearly demonstrated technical skill to start the engine very quickly.

“Our investigation led us to recover all but one of the cars they stole. Car theft is a very risky business given that so many are now fitted with tracker devices and that our road network is covered extensively by Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras which allow us to monitor vehicle movement.”

Private Investigator, like West Midlands Police, has had huge success in tracing vehicles with the use of GPS tracking devices. GPS tracking devices have a number of uses including the tracking of a car that has been stolen, when the owner has the foresight of having a tracker fitted and for tracking the vehicle of a cheating spouse or partner to find out where they are going. Once a tracker has been fitted to a vehicle it can be traced 24/7 by the internet tracking panel to any address around the world. The use of this tracking equipment allowed the West Midlands Police to capture these active car thieves and most of the victims were able to have their property returned to them.

Kristy George, spokesperson from Private Investigator said:

“In my professional opinion these brothers were lucky to have stolen as many cars as they did with all the crime prevention modern technology available. An expensive vehicle like a BMW should be fitted with a GPS tracker for the owner’s peace of mind.”
