President Karzai’s open disdain for the American Military is not acceptable," MOAA President Vice Adm. Norb Ryan, Jr. said.
Alexandria, Va. (PRWEB) March 15, 2013
Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) sent a letter to President Obama expressing profound concern over the recent intemperate remarks by Afghan President Hamid Karzai that endanger our troops in Afghanistan.
“President Karzai’s recent remarks insult our men and women in uniform and his recent allegations about the United States ‘colluding’ with the Taliban to prolong our military presence there place our service members in greater danger as General Dunford’s Command Threat Advisory acknowledges,” MOAA President Vice Adm. Norb Ryan, Jr. said.
“President Karzai’s open disdain for the American Military is not acceptable,” Ryan continued. “We believe President Karzai should apologize both to the men and women of the American Military who have fought for his country’s freedom and to all the families of our military personnel who have suffered the loss of a loved one on his nation’s behalf.”
MOAA requested that President Obama, Vice President Biden and other government leaders continue to speak out frequently about the valor, incredible professionalism and sacrifice that our All Volunteer Force and their families exhibit on a daily basis.
“The current combat environment is already extremely hazardous and what our country needs is a supportive Afghan government, not an unappreciative one,” Ryan concluded.
MOAA is expressing its concerns on behalf of its 380,000 members. The organization is speaking up on the issue so that the current situation can be rapidly repaired and our men and women in uniform can know their mission is valued and respected by the government they are there to support.
