Experts in private hearing healthcare have responded to the story of an American Idol contestant with hearing loss.

A 19 year old singer on the current series of American Idol has been grabbing headlines for her voice as well as an interesting back story.

Angie Miller plays piano and writes her own songs, but also suffers from hearing loss in both ears.

Miller has been impressing judges so far at the live performances on the TV show and already has 2.5 million views on YouTube of one of her performances.

American Idol is one of America’s highest rated shows and has launched the careers of pop stars such as Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson. The show is due to air its final in May and boasts judges such as Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. It is also broadcast in the UK.
