Sarasota, FL (PRWEB) March 18, 2013
ChurchPlaza a Sarasota, Florida based national provider of church chairs, church seating and other quality products to the American and international church markets, today announced a national campaign to alert and advise American churches of the need to verify chair components for safety.
Dr. Thomas McElheny, Founder and CEO of ChurchPlaza noted, “For 27 years, ChurchPlaza has put the safety and well being of America’s churches first, and with the proliferation of many new internet and foreign chair providers, we’ve noticed a dangerous deterioration in the quality of raw materials in some chairs”.
ChurchPlaza recently evaluated 19 samples from church chair and sanctuary seating providers from the United States, Canada and foreign countries and documented material manufacturing deficiencies and/or misrepresentations of material facts in 14 of the 19 chairs.
Of particular concern, noted Mrs. Nitza Dowdy, General Manager of ChurchPlaza, “are the lack of third party certifications regarding formaldehyde release/content information and adherence to US and International standards in the wood, fabric and foam used in these chairs”. Mrs. Dowdy also pointed out that very few of the church chair providers supply written third party certification of claims they make. This, she says, “makes it very important that churches protect themselves and their congregations by insisting on these certified written assurances.
Dr. McElheny noted that, “Over 27 years, we’ve seen a lot of people and companies come and go in this industry. Not everyone has the best interests of the Church at heart. We felt called to make churches aware of this danger.”
Headquartered in Sarasota, Florida, ChurchPlaza maintains manufacturing and warehousing capabilities at four locations and has been endorsed by 45 national denominations, ministries and/or their publishing houses over the past 27 years.
