Following the unveiling of a public art installation of 25,000 LED lights across the Bay Bridge in San Francisco, the CEO of Philips Lighting North America has commented to Greentech Media on how the introduction of LED lighting technology is changing the face of the lighting industry.
Mr Crawford told the publication: "Up until now, light has been something we need to [use to] see and now light is becoming something to make me feel a certain way. The exciting thing about LEDs is that they offer controllability where you can change colour, change motion, and change the look and feel of a room, a bridge or a building."
The comments come as countries across the world are looking to phase out incandescent lights in favour for more energy efficient LED bulbs.
A spokesperson from Lights 4 Living said:
“Ed Crawford has raised the issue of how LEDs are changing the way we interact with lighting and highlights how exciting the future of lighting has the potential to be. It is exciting to imagine where home lighting will be in five to ten years from now – the potential is terrific.”
