Regulus Communications, Inc. Launches a Mobile Web Portal for Health Care Apps

The meaningful use mandates of the HITECH Act require health care providers to reduce costs and improve communication inefficiencies through health information exchanges. Providers will need to develop patient-controlled health data and mobile technologies offer a low cost and highly efficient platform for delivering information to patients.

Regulus Communications, Inc. announced today the launch of the CareAPP Health Information Network, a mobile web portal for patients and consumers to access health information via a mobile device, including a notebook PC, an iBook, a digital tablet, an iPad, a smart phone, or a digital reader – simultaneously!

CareAPP is the mobile content portal of the Health Information Knowledgebase which provides mobile health information resources to care providers, health professionals, and health product and service suppliers for publishing patient-oriented communications as required by the HITECH Act. It is the first dedicated mobile content system supporting health information exchange services and programs.

CareAPP includes multi-lingual, mobile content to help make care management more efficient and cost effective for providers, and includes:

A Mobile Health App Authoring System, an online portal for publishing health care apps for patients with mobile devices. The system also helps remove the risk management complications device specific mobile apps create.

Mobile Distance Education, for care professionals and providers to connect to education and training resources. Courses can be accessed from a computer or mobile device.

The Journal of mobileHealth Information and Technology to keep health professionals connected to professional articles and presentations on health information design and management.

A Patient Feedback Service to help care providers monitor their information exchange program to determine how communications can be made more efficient and easier to use for patients.

A Visual Literacy Analysis service that uses eye track technologies to research and evaluate user interactions with mobile devices, including medical service devices, to improve mobile communication design for exchange management.

In addition to mobile content resources for health care providers, the CareAPP Health Information Network provides a series of free mobile care apps for patients and consumers to access from their mobile devices. The free resources include:

The Mobile Health Library of apps for patients and consumers on diseases, conditions, anxiety disorders, fears and phobias, health calculators for on-the-go health management, and a popular drug interaction app that links users to the U.S National Library of Medicine and the U.S. National Institutes of Health.

Mobile Health News and Alerts for news briefs on health care developments impacting public health and alerts about new care apps available on the network.

“Meaningful use mandates will change the way providers communicate to patients, especially through highly efficient mobile technologies” says Richard L. Austin, the project director. “It is vital for providers to create health information exchanges to reach the broadest possible base of patients more effectively and avoid risk management complications from device specific mobile communications” he added.
