We view this as a win-win arrangement for our clients, in line with the core mission shared by both schools; to deliver to both Sailing Students and Charter clients a school/cruise experience tailor made to both their level and personal preferences.

Captain Lou joins Virgin Island Sailing school adding ASA 106 (Advanced coastal cruising), ASA 107 (Celestial Navigation) and ASA 108 (Offshore Passage Making) to VI Sailing School’s Leopard 47 Catamaran and IC 24 Keel boats, offering ASA 101 (Basic keelboat sailing), ASA 103 (Basic coastal cruising), ASA 104 (Bareboat Chartering), and ASA 114, (Cruising Catamaran).

The additional off shore experience and ASA credentials puts Virgin Island Sailing School in a select rank of ASA Certified Schools offering all levels of sailing instruction. All sailing courses are live aboard and include all course materials in their pricing. All ASA 101 courses are taught on an IC 24, all higher courses on either the Hylas 47 mono-hull or the Leopard 47 cruising cat.

Capt Lou also brings her unique program of real life cruising adventures in her unique “Mate for a Month”, which sails throughout the Caribbean and US East Coast.

Vacation “term charters” are also offered on both boats as well as flotilla sailing (both boats sailing together for larger groups). This summer, while Capt Lou and her Hylas 47 are heading north to the Bahamas and Florida, the Leopard 47 will be going “down island”; with stops in such exotic places as Anguilla & Saint Barths (UK), Saint Martin/Sint Maarten (France/Neth.), Saba (Neth.), St. Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Montserrat (UK), Guadeloupe (Fr.) Dominica, Martinique (Fr.), St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados, Grenada, Tobago & Trinidad. Beginning the last week of July and coming back up on the first week of November.

“We view this as a win-win arrangement for our clients, in line with the core mission shared by both schools; to deliver to both Sailing Students and Charter clients a school/cruise experience tailor made to both their level and personal preferences. And quality level that exceeds their expectations," comments Captain Scott Dempster of Virgin Island Sailing.
