PlaceWise Media, an integrated digital marketing provider to the retail industry and the nation’s largest digital and mobile network of mall shoppers, today announced the appointment of Lela Cocoros to the newly-created position of Vice President, Integrated Marketing Communications.
Cocoros is responsible for leading and orchestrating the marketing, content and communications efforts across all key audiences and stakeholders as PlaceWise Media adds new shopping mall partners, expands into new retail sectors and grows its consumer-facing brand, Shoptopia™. Shoptopia™ is a multiplatform, geo-targeted, personalized shopping ecosystem enabling consumers anywhere in the U.S. to find goods, services and related shopping content, deals and coupons at 14 million retailer locations. She reports to PlaceWise Media CEO Mort Aaronson.
Cocoros has had a distinguished career in the media, entertainment and telecom industries. She led the corporate communications department at Tele-Communications, Inc. (TCI) at the time of its sale to AT&T and held several communications and media relations positions at the company during its dramatic growth and expansion into digital television, high-speed Internet and telephony. For ten years, she was partner at October Strategies, Inc., an award-winning strategic communications consultancy she co-founded that served national and international media content, distribution and technology clients. She has also held positions at the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau (CAB) and NBC in New York.

Cocoros holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Institute of Film and Television. She was a charter fellow of the Women in Cable Telecommunications Foundations’ Betsy Magness Leadership Institute at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC, and a recipient of the National Cable Telecommunications Association’s Vanguard Award for Young Leadership. She lives in Denver with her family.
