New York, NY (PRWEB) March 19, 2013
The 2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament team selection has been made. The NCAA selection committee has picked the 68 teams that will participate in the 75th edition of the NCAA March Madness or properly known as the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship. There are teams that are expected to be seeded in their brackets and there are teams that are unexpectedly excluded from tournament. One of the biggest snubs in the 2013 NCAA tournament is the defending champion Kentucky Wildcats. They will not be part of the tournament as they were not selected by the committee. In other words, there will be a new national champion because the Wildcats failed to live up to expectations and had lackluster season this year.
In the selection, Louisville, Gonzaga, Kansas and Indiana are the top seeds in their respective brackets. In the NCAA Division I poll, Gonzaga remains the number 1 team, but in the RPI rankings, it is Duke who has the highest Rating Percentage Index. Gonzaga’s first seed is the first time in school history. Overall, Louisville is the top ranked team in the NCAA tournament this year. The second overall seed was given to Duke, the third seed to Indiana and the fourth seed to Gonzaga.
In the Midwest bracket, Louisville is the number 1 seed with Duke getting the second seed. In the West bracket, Gonzaga is the first ranked team followed by Ohio State. In the South bracket, Kansas is the first seed and the second seed went to Georgetown. In the East bracket, Indiana is the number one seed and Miami (FL) as the second seed team. The round of 64 will begin in March 21 and 22. The round of 32 will kick off on March 23 and 24. The regional semis will start on March 28 and 29 followed by the Regional finals on March 30 and 31. The National semifinals of Final Four games are set on April 6 and the National final game is set of April 8.
Of course, there are teams that are regarded as Cinderella teams that can upset highly seeded teams. The teams that can score upsets are VCU, Davidson, Belmont, Iowa State and Colorado State. The teams that can win it all are projected to be the top seeded teams in their respective regions, Duke, Saint Louis, New Mexico, Miami, Florida and Georgetown.
