Follow up has uncovered the centers are finding Beamz is a great fit for students with a wide variety of abilities.
Lisa Nevitt, from Lekotek, Cobb County, GA reported, “I've already seen great impact on the kids I serve. My favorite thing about Beamz is the ease in which kids can create music. The older kids who visit the office love being creative and recording their own version of popular songs. It’s also a great tool for younger kids who are non-verbal to participate in favorite sing along songs like Bingo and Old MacDonald—they’re really proud to be contributing. I have even found it to be a great tool for kids with very limited motor control. Some kids with limited mobility have been successful raising and lowering their arms through the Beamz to make music. I've used other tools/toys to activate Beamz too—we’ve thrown plush balls through the lasers to make sounds. The best part is that Beamz is something fun that the whole family can play together. I love that there is a wide range of songs appropriate and appealing for any age or ability. Beamz has been such a great addition to our play sessions; it keeps kids attention and builds confidence as they are very quickly successful at learning concepts and making music.”
Ahren A. Hoffman, CTRS, Manager of Industry Relations and Partnerships, went on to say, “When we were introduced to Beamz as an organization, I knew it would be a great fit for us. Lekotek is built on the premise that play is a critical building block in developmental milestones—cognition, problem-solving, language, organization, creativity and so on. Beamz complements our pedagogical position by not only providing opportunities for children to play creatively, but it is also a platform that uses music to deliver more organized instruction related to teaching concepts or setting goals for kids who have physical challenges."
