Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) March 20, 2013
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ projections, employment of pharmacy technicians is expected to grow by 32 percent from 2010 to 2020, faster than the average for all occupations. A growing elderly population and more medications being prescribed to fight diseases has increased the need for trained pharmacy technicians. To help meet demand, Anthem Education Group (AEG) offers a Pharmacy Technician program at 11 locations throughout the U.S.
The Anthem Education Group Pharmacy Technician program is offered at Anthem College campuses in Maryland Heights and Fenton, Mo.; Irving, Texas; Beaverton, Ore.; Aurora, Colo.; St. Louis Park, Minn.; Phoenix, Ariz.; and Sacramento, Calif.; Anthem Institute in Las Vegas, Nev., The Bryman School of Arizona in Phoenix and Anthem Career College in Memphis, Tenn.
Curriculum is offered as either a one-year diploma program or a two-year Associate’s Degree program at select campuses. In addition to general education courses, students receive extensive hands-on training with courses focusing on pharmacy technician operations, pharmacy simulations, state and federal law and ethical issues. Upon graduation from the Pharmacy Technician program, students are qualified for entry-level technician careers in hospital, long-term care and retail pharmacy settings.
“Job prospects for aspiring pharmacy technicians are certainly increasing and at Anthem Education Group, this is one of our most popular programs,” said Anna Selga, director of education at Anthem College – Sacramento of Anthem Education Group. “We provide the resources necessary for students to find jobs with future advancement possibilities by giving them the training they need to enter and succeed in the workplace. We offer career-focused classes which combine coursework and classroom lectures with skills development in labs that simulate real-world work environments.”
Along with the Pharmacy Technician program, Anthem Education Group offers a Limited Scope X-Ray Technician program as a one-year diploma program or two-year Associate’s Degree program.
