Broken Shed Vodka (http://www.brokenshed.com), a super-premium vodka made in New Zealand, is expanding into California. With a new distribution deal with Bock Wines and Spirits, Broken Shed is eager to continue its rapid growth in the United States in one of the country’s largest markets.

“We are thrilled to be introducing Broken Shed to the California market. We all love the cocktail cultures in San Francisco and Los Angeles, and look forward to seeing Broken Shed’s success here,” said Steve Turner, co-founder of Broken Shed. “California represents an important state to tackle, but we feel that with the positive response we had in New York and Connecticut our spirit will be very well-received. Our distribution in California helps to lay the foundation for great success for Broken Shed in the United States.”

To add to its new distribution news, Broken Shed is proud to announce results from the prestigious Ultimate Spirits Challenge, whose competition took place earlier this month. Broken Shed received a score of 90, with the accolade of “Excellent, Highly Recommended.”

Founded in 2009, Broken Shed Vodka is distilled four times from New Zealand whey (the excess sugar generated from milk production), which has been distilled to the highest standards in New Zealand for over 25 years. Though few vodkas are distilled from whey, it is an excellent natural source for distillation of pure spirit.

Broken Shed Vodka is free of additives and blends two distinct water sources from New Zealand, one from Central Otago on the South Island and the other from East Tamaki on the North Island.

Broken Shed also attributes its smooth taste profile to craft blending and filtering during production. Broken Shed utilizes continuous depth filtering and a custom-designed charcoal filtration process.

“Broken Shed has a great story and the quality speaks for itself,” said Lou Bock, owner of Bock Wine and Spirits. “This vodka is a great fit for our premium, artisan spirits portfolio, and we couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to work closer with the Broken Shed team to help grow this very special vodka in California.”

On the heels of great success in New Zealand, Singapore and the UK, Broken Shed plans to grow systematically in the U.S. Already distributed in Connecticut and New York, Broken Shed has plans to strategically expand distribution throughout 2013.

About Broken Shed Vodka

Broken Shed Vodka is based in Wanaka, a small lake town in the mountains of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. Distilled, crafted and bottled in New Zealand, Broken Shed is made without any additives. The award winning vodka was founded in 2009, launched in 2010 in New Zealand, and then launched in the U.S. in June, 2012. Started in a ‘broken’ down old shed on Lake Wanaka where the formula was originally crafted and produced, the (slightly) renovated Shed is now used for tasting events and offices.
