Denver, Colorado: Burg Simpson is proud to announce that associate attorney Reeves D. Whalen has graduated from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government Executive Education Program. Mr. Whalen was accepted into the Harvard Kennedy School Leadership for the 21st Century Executive Education Program in 2012. Executive Education at the Harvard Kennedy School is a highly competitive program that brings together exceptionally talented and proven multi-industry and government leaders from around the world.
Harvard Kennedy School has set the standard for executive education in public sector management and civic leadership around the world. The Kennedy School of Government Executive Education Program has trained international foreign ministers, members of parliament, members of the United Nations, U.S. military and intelligence officers, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Interior, members of state and local government, law enforcement personnel, and members of Congress. The KSG Class of 2013 consisted of 63 students representing 13 nations from around the world. On participating in this prestigious program, Attorney Whalen commented, “This was an incredible opportunity to spend time with leaders from around the globe while studying together at Harvard under the leadership and direction of some of the world’s most renowned University Faculty.”
Mr. Whalen is an accomplished Colorado attorney representing injured victims and consumers. In less than Five years of practice, he has been recognized as a Colorado Super Lawyer Rising Star, Denver Business Journal Forty Under 40, National Trial Lawyers (NTL) Top 100 Colorado Attorneys, National Trial Lawyers 40 Under 40, 5280 Magazine Top Young Attorneys in Colorado, and as a Finalist for the Colorado Bar Association’s Young Attorney of the Year. In 2012, Mr. Whalen was awarded the American Constitution Society (ACS) Progressive Young Leadership Award.
Mr. Whalen has served on Denver Mayor Michael Hancock’s Transition Team as the Co-Chair for the Department of Excise & License and was appointed by Denver Public Schools Superintendent Tom Boasberg to the Citizen Planning Advisory Committee (CPAC). In 2012, he was appointed to the Colorado Steering Committee for the National Fix the Debt Campaign. Mr. Whalen is a member of the Clinton Foundation Millennium Network of Young Philanthropists and President Obama's Gen44 Colorado Campaign Finance Committee. He previously sat on the Executive Committee for the Democratic Party of Denver (DPoD) and currently serves on the board of directors for the Girl's Athletic Leadership School (GALS) and the Development Committee for the Denver Public Schools Foundation (DPSF). Mr. Whalen has taken on volunteer service projects in Haiti and the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Mr. Whalen is a graduate of Dickinson College and the University of Denver Law School.
