Rover now offers enterprises an across-the-board best of breed solution for the full spectrum of mobile information access.
Roswell, GA (PRWEB) March 23, 2013
Rover Apps, a provider of solutions that securely connect personal mobile devices to enterprise resources without requiring VPNs, today announced two key partnerships as part of Rover’s new Secure Container Suite, which extends controlled access to enterprise data and intranet apps from authorized iOS and Android devices while eliminating the need for full mobile device management.
Rover was introduced in late 2011 as an advanced mobile solution that extends secure access to intranet sites and hybrid apps to mobile users, with the Rover Retriever browser residing in a secure container that isolates enterprise information assets from the rest of the mobile device. That capability made Rover popular in application-specific mobile access solutions such as US AccuScreen’s paperless drug test requisition system.
Rover Apps’ technology partnerships have now extended that mobile capability to include separate containers for corporate email and for document review and editing to complement Rover Retriever’s browser function. As a result, Rover stands ready to extend a broad range of mobile information access to an enterprise's employees, contractors and partners as appropriate.
A custom version of NitroDesk’s market-leading email client, TouchDown™, now serves as Rover Mail, Rover’s secure corporate email container. Compatible with any ActiveSync messaging system such as Exchange, Rover Mail enables secure corporate mobile email, calendar, contacts and more. “Mobile users who access mission-critical corporate information benefit tremendously from seamless and secure access to corporate email,” said Ron Goins, NitroDesk’s chief operating officer. “By tightly integrating TouchDown-based, Exchange-compatible email in a secure container, Rover makes corporate email an interoperable, elegant snap-in for mobile users.”
Similarly, Rover Docs, the secure document handling container that integrates with multiple document management back-end systems such as SharePoint, includes document handling features powered by a custom version of SecureOffice™ Platform from SmartOffice Technologies. Deployed over the last decade on over 600 million devices, SecureOffice enables the secure viewing, editing and exchange of Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF files. “In the mobile enterprise world, real-time users need to view and edit corporate documents securely and efficiently on their devices of choice,” said Imran Khand, CEO of SmartOffice. “Our technology partnership with Rover not only helps deliver a secure mobile collaboration experience on multiple platforms with fidelity across containers, but also forms a basis for bringing to market future corporate and personal user-led services.”
As Rover’s browsing, email and document review/editing functions are delivered in separate, secure containers, each appears to the mobile user as any other Android or iOS mobile app on the device. Users can manually open any container from the home screen, and Rover also automatically opens and orchestrates secure transfer of information among multiple containers, for example, opening Rover Mail from Rover Retriever when the user wants to securely send an email to a recipient listed in the browser.
“Rover now offers enterprises an across-the-board best of breed solution for the full spectrum of mobile information access,” said Jonathan Foulkes, Rover Apps CEO. “The fact that each capability resides in its own secure container gives IT the tight control it needs over enterprise information assets – without having to manage the entire device – while presenting those capabilities intuitively as native apps to the users.”
Rover Apps Secure Container Suite will be available in April 2013 to enterprise accounts and OEM partners.
