The quick survey will help families make better school choices, schools be more responsive to constituent needs, and students learn more effectively.

"More transparency into how schools operate and in comparison with each other will catalyze schools to improve. The end result will be a better educational experience for students at all schools." -- General Academic President, Shelby Joe

General Academic, a Rice Village tutoring and academic consultancy, announced today that it has published the first ever Houston School Survey and is actively seeking parent and student responses online at HoustonSchoolSurvey.com. The Survey is an approximately ten-minute online questionnaire open to both parents and students currently or recently enrolled in a Houston area public or private school.

“The Survey response data will help provide a more human and intangible picture of schools that traditional data like test scores, demographics, and similar statistics cannot,” said General Academic’s founder Shelby Joe. “This picture in turn will help parents better choose a school for their children, administrators improve the quality of their services, and students to learn more effectively.”

Parents and students can access the survey online at HoustonSchoolSurvey.com effective immediately. Responses should be submitted by no later than May 31, 2013. General Academic will aggregate, analyze, and publish summary results online for no cost and in detail in the third edition of its marquee book, “Houston Public and Select Private Schools.” The Company expects the data to be available online and in print by September 1, 2013.

Responding to the Survey will strongly benefit students, parents, and schools. Students will benefit from more responsive schools. Parents will be able to make more informed choices for their children. Schools will better understand their constituents.
