Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 23, 2013

Lambda Legal is delighted and honored to announce Lance Bass as the host for the 2013 West Coast Liberty Awards. An impassioned supporter for equality, Bass joins Lambda Legal to celebrate 40 years of making the case for equality at the London Hotel in West Hollywood on Thursday, June 13, 2013.

Lambda Legal is on the frontlines fighting for equality, recently filing friend-of-the-court briefs in support of the challenges to California’s Prop 8 and the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) being heard in the United States Supreme Court later this month. Lambda Legal’s amicus briefs join dozens of other briefs filed – including the Obama Administration’s Department of Justice, the State of California and more than 250 businesses from across the country. Lambda Legal is the nation’s oldest and largest legal organization whose mission is to achieve the full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender people and people living with HIV.

“As a strong supporter of Lambda Legal’s fight for equality, I was very honored to be asked to host Lambda Legal’s 40th annual West Coast Liberty Awards. I am excited to be part of their terrific event,” says Lance Bass.

In addition to his advocacy for equality, Bass remains active in various charitable organizations, most particularly The Lance Bass Foundation, created to meet the health and educational needs of children. He recently executively produced Randal Kleiser's romantic comedy, "Lovewrecked," starring Amanda Bynes, Chris Carmack and Jamie-Lynn Sigler. A member of the phenomenally successful *NSYNC, Bass also hosts a weekly radio show called Dirty Pop with Lance Bass on Sirius XM and continues to flex his producing muscles with his production company, Lance Bass Productions. He has starred as Corny Collins on Broadway in Hairspray and released his memoir, Out of Sync. Bass then danced his way to the finals on Season 7 of ABC’s Hit Series, Dancing With The Stars. He is chair of a brand new e-commerce site: famousyardsale.com.

“We are thrilled that Lance Bass has agreed to host Lambda Legal’s 40th annual Liberty Awards event. We believe that he will be the perfect host and that he will make this into a very special event for us” says Rick Davis, Western Regional Director.

The West Coast Liberty Awards is an annual opportunity for Lambda Legal to recognize and thank individuals and organizations whose public advocacy and work has furthered the cause of Lambda Legal’s vision of equality. Past West Coast Liberty Award honorees include: Rosie O’Donnell, Margaret Cho, Bruce Vilanch, Kathy Griffin, Alan Cumming, Lori Jean and Judith Light, among others. The announcement for this year’s honoree will come shortly.

The 2013 Honorary Committee includes Lily Tomlin, Alison Pill, Joshua Malina, Bellamy Young, Michael Steger, Jai Rodriguez, Sara Rue, Grant Bowler, Rex Lee, Garcelle Beauvais, Janina Gavankar, Tony Denison and others.
