Mirepoix USA (enjoyfoiegras.com), a leading online purveyor of foie gras, caviar, truffles and other gourmet foods, has organized a five-course Foie Gras Tasting, Wine Pairing and Sales event in Reno, Nevada, where the company is now based. Napa Valley’s Bourassa Vineyards will be sampling their limited production wines at the event. Mirepoix USA moved its operations to Reno, Nevada in response to California State Senate Bill No. 1520 (SB 1520), the “foie gras ban”, which became law on July 1, 2012.
Californians and local foie gras connoisseurs are invited to attend Mirepoix USA’s five-course Foie Gras Tasting and Wine Pairing event, and buy foie gras and expertly paired wines from Bourassa Vineyards, at the event. According to Laurel Pine, Mirepoix USA founder, “it is legal to buy foie gras in the state of Nevada and transport the product back to California”.
Five foie gras courses will be served at the April 27th tasting event including Foie Gras Cured with Lavender Sea Salt, Block of Foie Gras with Blood Orange Sauce and Chilies on Toasted Brioche, Seared Foie Gras with Simmered Fennel and Cracked Pepper Caramel Sauce, Mini Beef Wellington with Wagyu Beef and Foie Gras, and for dessert, Foie Gras Ice Cream Profiteroles with Caramel and Fleur de Sel. Each course will be paired with a taste of world class, limited production varietals and rich, complex blends from Napa Valley Bourassa Vineyards.
The event will be held in a private club room in downtown Reno, Nevada, and the five foie gras courses will be served “cocktail party” style. Wait staff will serve each course on passed trays and guests will be free to mingle in the room and on the outdoor poolside patio. Event guests will be able to watch the preparation of each course in the open demonstration kitchen.
