We were delighted when 'sight' was chosen as a theme for Comic Relief's Red Nose Day 2011. It helped raise awareness about some of the blinding diseases that affect the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world...we wanted to do our bit.
Harlow, Essex (PRWEB UK) 22 March 2013
On Friday 15th March, staff from Haag-Streit UK (HS-UK) celebrated Red Nose Day 2013 by participating in fun activities and raised a fantastic total of £409, for the Comic Relief charity.
Staff were involved in a variety of red-nose related activities including a themed quiz, cake sale, and a guess-the-baby-picture competition!
The ‘Red-Nose Quiz’ took place at HS-UK headquarters in Harlow. Senior Managers, Sharon Mills and Kennedy Reed took on the Quiz Master roles and more than 20 teams took part to help raise money.
Staff really dressed for the occasion, with some arriving to work in their red PJ’s or ‘onesies’! Many staff came in with red noses, as well as in fancy dress.
Kennedy Reed, HS-UK Human Resources Manager, said, “I was really proud of the HS-UK team for all their hard work to make our Comic Relief fundraising the success it was. We had a lot of fun and raised a fantastic amount of money for a great cause.”
Sharon Mills, HS-UK Marketing Manager, said, “We were delighted when 'sight' was chosen as a theme for Comic Relief's Red Nose Day 2011. It helped raise awareness about some of the blinding diseases that affect the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world. The last Red Nose Day really put the work of Sightsavers in the spotlight, and highlighted its work in countries like Uganda. Sightsavers and Comic Relief forged a 3 year partnership and we wanted to do our bit.”
The money raised will help people living unimaginably tough lives across the UK and Africa. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Comic Relief, which was launched in 1985. This year, the total stands at over £75 million, and HS-UK are proud to have played their part in helping change the lives of poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged people across the UK and Africa.
