Faculty members illustrate Sofia University’s dedication to staying on the forefront of cutting edge research and studies.

Our distinguished faculty is the core of who we are as a university, and they are living Sofia’s wisdom and mission in terms of groundbreaking research and developments in transpersonal studies.

Sofia University (formerly the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology) recently announced new professional appointments for several of its faculty members. These appointments not only advance psychological research as a whole but also illustrate Sofia University’s dedication to staying on the forefront of cutting edge research and studies.

Kartik Patel, Ph.D., and David Lukoff, Ph.D., both professors at Sofia University, have been invited by APA (American Psychological Association) Journals to serve on the Editorial Board of its newly approved journal, Spirituality in Clinical Practice (SCP). The journal will appear in print beginning in 2014, spanning a number of divisions APA-wide. Spirituality in Clinical Practice is a practice-oriented journal that encompasses spiritually oriented psychotherapy and spiritually sensitive cultural applications. SCP will publish articles, reviews, commentaries and case reports, serving as a forum for those engaged in clinical activities to report on and have a dialogue regarding their activities and future research initiatives.

Ryan Rominger, Ph.D., assistant professor at Sofia, has been invited to act as guest editor for an issue of The Journal of Near Death Experiences by Jan Holden.
