Roughly 100,000 people - including the top names in women's tennis - will visit Charleston's island town March 30 through April 7 for the Family Circle Cup on Daniel Island, the largest women's-only tennis tournament in the world. Among the top-ranked players scheduled to compete are defending champion Serena Williams (World No. 1), Sara Errani (World No. 7), Samantha Stosur (World No. 10), Sloane Stephens (World No. 16), Venus Williams (World No. 18) and Lucie Safarova (World No. 19).

Broadcast live in the United States on ESPN2, this year’s Family Circle Cup will also be broadcast in 143 countries worldwide, showcasing 33 matches on-air and creating more than 70 hours of television coverage from Daniel Island.

The Family Circle Cup is one of the most prestigious events in women's professional tennis. Since 1973 it has helped catapult the careers of tennis greats like Tracy Austin, Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert, Steffi Graf, Jennifer Capriati and many others. Originally taking place at Sea Pines Plantation on Hilton Head Island, the tournament relocated to Daniel Island in 2001, where it has grown to become one of Charleston's top annual special events and helped the city earn the title of "America's Best Tennis Town" by the United States Tennis Association.

But the tournament goes well beyond serving up great tennis. Opening weekend is "Family Weekend," offering adults and kids two fun-filled days of face painting, magicians, jump castles, craft stations and even an Easter Egg Hunt. All week long, the Grand Lawn will be a central gathering place, with a festive bar, live music and Happy Hour specials. Other special events include a Street Party that will kick-off the final weekend's matches, Military Appreciation Night and a special fundraising initiative for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. For a complete line-up of Family Circle Cup events and to purchase tickets visit http://www.familycirclecup.com.
