Little Spark, an online subscription service for early childhood learning, launched its program to the public on March 20, 2013. The first service of its kind, Little Spark’s monthly kits are based on a child’s age and are progressively staged. Little Spark kits contain 2-4 products for learning and provide parents with simple step-by-step activities to enhance their children’s early childhood skill development, including emotional, manipulative, listening, visual, language, numeracy, color, bonding, and motor skills. Designed by a panel of experts consisting of a newborn occupational therapist, a newborn developmental psychologist, an early childhood cognitive researcher, and a teacher, Little Spark’s kits are age and ability-appropriate and enhance bonding and playtime with babies.

The company was conceived by Susan Kim and Vivian Song, who met at Harvard Business School. Susan Kim, a former marketer at Mattel, and Vivian Song, a tech-savvy mom and former product manager at an eCommerce start up, are passionate about early childhood development and education and eager to help parents make the most of their playtime with their babies. Working closely with baby researchers at UC Berkeley, Susan and Vivian developed a proprietary and custom curriculum, based on cutting-edge research, for babies aged 0 – 18 months.

“Our vision is to become the trusted source for early childhood education. At Little Spark, we believe in improving every child’s playtime with their parents and loved ones, in a way that enhances early development,” said Kim, co-founder of Little Spark. “Parents should be spending their time bonding, not researching.
