I feel welcomed on this fast-paced team. I see that students work diligently in their online college-prep courses at Oaks, and I know that I can help them with the rigor of their schedules.

Jennifer McCurtis, MA, started working with Oaks Christian Online High School students in the new position of Student Advisor on March 1, 2013. After helping the online school launch a new UC course submission process last summer, where Ms. Curtis was part of a successful team that submitted 15 courses for UC approval, she has taken over the new position of Student Advisor. In this role she will help advise students with online course selection and with staying on pace for a successful online student experience. Ms. Curtis will also instruct students in the new Oaks Christian Online School’s learning lab opening next to the school’s main campus in Westlake Village, CA, in the summer of 2013. The new lab, located in the Westlake Plaza Center, will house the computer learning center where main-campus students and local online students can come to work, ask questions or have exams proctored. Ms. Curtis enjoys being part of the growing and dynamic Oaks Christian Online High School team. She says, “I feel welcomed on this fast-paced team. I see that students work diligently in their online college-prep courses at Oaks, and I know that I can help them with the rigor of their schedules.”

Ms. Curtis’s background has given her the experience to help Oaks’ students. She graduated with a degree in Psychology from Cal State Channel Islands and went on to get her Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance from Cal Lutheran University. She received her Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPS), and has worked with middle school as well as online high school students. She has also taught many age groups at Unity Christian Fellowship in Oxnard, CA, where her father, Dr. Gabriel McCurtis, is the pastor. Jennifer has a passion for building relationships with students and is impressed by the quality of students she works with at Oaks. She says, “I see how these students carry themselves and how articulate they are. I’m excited about growing into this new position and new facility, and I’m looking forward to creating an atmosphere where students will know that I am there for them.”

The main campus of Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village, CA opened in the fall of 2000 and Oaks Christian Online School (OCO) opened for full-time, online students in the fall of 2011. The online high school provides a rigorous and challenging college preparatory education for high school students all around the world in a Christian environment.
