Satzman muses that 2013 is the first year consumers are able to buy an exact clone of a regular 60 watt incandescent bulb at a reasonable price.

It has been reported in the Wall Street Journal, that the interview with Satzman, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner at Vantage Point Capital Partners, focused on how LEDs will transform the lighting industry. He explains that due to cost reduction and quality improvements, “By 2020, you’re not going to be able buy a light source other than an LED.” Satzman muses that 2013 is the first year consumers are able to buy an exact clone of a regular 60 watt incandescent bulb at a reasonable price.
He also predicted that by 2020, the LED bulbs we are presented with will be priced similarly to today’s regular light bulbs, last 25 years and use 85% less energy.
The team at Simple Lighting are dedicated to researching the latest industry updates and developments. As such they often come across new experiments and research looking into the progression of LEDs. A representative shares their thoughts on the matter.
“Just recently we’ve seen studies into improving the efficiency of LEDs, including the quality of light projected and the heat lost. There are also continuous studies into the use of LEDs in different areas, such as for medical research or food preservation. We believe Alan E. Satzman’s predictions for 2020 may very well prove to be accurate.”
Satzman also touched upon the varied uses of LEDs, stating that “You’ve got a raft of functionality that just has to be integrated into the bulb itself.”
