Estate planning is an important part of any financial plan, and we are thrilled to have Mark share his knowledge with our clients and the community.

The Orange County wealth management firm IWM Partners will host a Basics of Estate Planning Workshop on Thursday, April 11 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at its Fountain Valley office presented by tax and estate attorney Mark Ziebold of Ziebold Law. The workshop is part of a monthly educational workshop series for clients and the community.

IWM Partners hosts an educational workshop featuring guest speakers at its Fountain Valley office every month on a variety of topics from how to help aging parents to social security to economic updates. The workshops are an added value to the financial professionals at IWM Partners’ financial planning clients, but are also open to anyone in the community who is interested.

Estate plans ensure that a person’s home and other assets are distributed in the way he or she wants. At the workshop, Ziebold will answer common questions including: “Do you even need an estate plan,” “What is a living trust and who should have one,” “What can an estate plan help you do,” “How does an estate plan work,” “What elements make up an estate plan,” and “How do I get started.”

“Estate planning is an important part of any financial plan, and we are thrilled to have Mark share his knowledge with our clients and the community,” says IWM Partners financial advisor Shawn Hochuli.

Common elements of an estate plan include a will, power of attorney, living will, trust, letter of instruction and emergency information. In the April workshop, Ziebold will go over how all of these fit into an individual’s estate plan.

In general, estate plans make things easier on friends or family as they settle estates by reducing stresses, delays, complications and expenses. Estate plans name guardians for children, name someone to make decisions if one is incapacitated, give direction about life-support measures, describe how assets should be distributed, may reduce federal and state estate and gift taxes, and may help avoid probate.
