Infinitt UK Ltd to provide Dental Picture Archiving and Communications System to Leeds Dental Institute

PACS and Image Management System provider Infinitt UK has been selected to supply Leeds Dental Institute (LDI) with a state of the art, web-based Dental PACS system. This will allow digital dental images to be acquired and viewed at the Institute’s 150 dental chairs, from consultants’ offices and other parts of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

The contract to deliver PACS is a key component in LDI’s electronic patient record programme which will underpin primary, secondary and tertiary care for patients of the Trust and support education and training for dental students and professionals.

Leeds Dental Institute selected Infinitt Dental PACS system because it is a comprehensive web-based image management system which allows health professionals to acquire, transmit, display, store and share digital dental images and reports. The PACS will also integrate seamlessly with the intraoral X-ray devices using Infinitt’s DentiGate acquisition software, as well as with a wide range of other dental imaging equipment, including cone-beam CT.

Infinitt’s Dental PACS is based on an intuitive user interface and facilitates easy display of Full Mouth X-ray templates acquired with Infinitt DentiGate. Because the system is web-based, users can roam between computer locations and still keep their settings, including screen layouts and toolbar preferences.

Infinitt will integrate the PACS to enable LDI staff to use Leeds Teaching Hospital’s existing HSS CRIS radiology for reporting of dental exams.

Under the deal, Infinitt UK will also supply Xelis Dental – the specialist dentistry module of Infinitt’s Xelis 3D and advanced image processing. It allows analysis of cone-beam CT images and enables dental surgeons to do on-screen planning for dental implant procedures

The installation includes all software, server hardware as well as reporting and acquisition workstations at both the main Leeds Dental Institute site and Seacroft Hospital in East Leeds. Installation will take place in February with go-live expected in April 2013.

Kenneth Cho, Managing Director of Infinitt UK commented:

“The Leeds Dental Institute contract is very important to Infinitt. The Trust had many suppliers to choose from and although we already provide enterprise PACS and RIS to other large sites in the UK such as Newcastle Upon Tyne NHS Foundation Trust hospitals, this contract represents a vote of confidence in our specialised PACS record and 3D ability. We are determined to reflect that trust by implementing a world-class dental image management and communication system at LDI and will provide the support service which has earned Infinitt premier placing for service provision three years running by KLAS, the independent US-based health IT analysis organisation”.

Fiona Carmichael, Consultant Dental and Maxillofacial Radiologist, says:

‘We are delighted with the level of commitment shown by Infinitt to integrate their PACS system successfully at Leeds Dental Institute. They have been with us every step of the way since getting the contract and certainly eased the minds of the clinicians involved in the process. Leeds Dental Institute can look to its future digital life with confidence.’
