“As an owner of a longstanding Iowa organization, the mission of IPEP is close to home for me. Creating jobs and increasing income for Iowa families align with what we want..." said Thomas Penaluna, CBE Companies Chairman and CEO.

CBE Companies, along with the Greater Cedar Valley Alliance & Chamber, announced that CEO Tom Penaluna was recently appointed to the Iowa Partnership on Economic Progress(IPEP) board. Penaluna will serve a two-year term as an IPEP board member representing business owners and workers across Iowa, and specifically the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area and surrounding economic region.
IPEP serves as an advisory body within the Iowa state government and functions on a continuing basis for the study and recommendation of solutions and policy alternatives for issues arising in the area of economic development. In performing such advisory functions, the partnership focuses on job creation, increasing the income of Iowa families, and on enlarging the gross state product.

Penaluna’s appointment mirrors his long-standing commitment to diverse economic and community development and civic affairs. Greater Cedar Valley Alliance and Chamber CEO Steven Dust said, “I am pleased that Tom agreed to serve on the IPEP board. His global vision and strategic approach to economic and business growth opportunities fits so well with the mission and agenda of IPEP. The same qualities that have placed him in leadership roles in national business circles, as well as at home with the Alliance, will also benefit our state development strategy.” The Greater Cedar Valley Alliance & Chamber is the economic development organization serving Penaluna’s home area.

Penaluna said, “As an owner of a longstanding Iowa organization, the mission of IPEP is close to home for me. Creating jobs and increasing income for Iowa families align with what we want for current and future CBE Companies’ employees. This appointment also provides me more access to continue to convince local and state officials the importance of key education issues to improve work ethic and development, such as The Leader In Me program, for our students graduating from Iowa K-12 schools. I am grateful and excited for the opportunity to be a part of this partnership.”
