Symantec Backup Exec Service Module provides managed service providers with a comprehensive view into end-clients’ backup environment from within the Level Platforms Managed Workplace dashboard

“Level Platforms was among the first RMM vendors to integrate our Symantec Backup Exec product at a meaningful level and we’re continuing to advance our partnership to further simplify ease-of-use and expand functionality for MSPs”

Level Platforms, a global leader in remote monitoring and management (RMM) software, today introduced an expanded technology integration that further simplifies and automates IT management for managed service providers (MSPs). Extending the capabilities of the Symantec Backup Exec Service Module, MSPs now have a deeper view into their end-clients’ backup environment so they can more fully monitor, manage and respond to issues from within the Level Platforms Managed Workplace dashboard.

“Level Platforms was among the first RMM vendors to integrate our Symantec Backup Exec product at a meaningful level and we’re continuing to advance our partnership to further simplify ease-of-use and expand functionality for MSPs,” said Stephen Banbury, Vice President of Worldwide Channel and Alliance Marketing for SMB and .Cloud, Symantec. “Our partnership with Level Platforms allows MSPs to more easily deliver the latest Symantec backup solutions and gain deeper visibility into the health and status of their customers’ IT network through the Managed Workplace dashboard so they can quickly respond to and resolve issues.”

The new Symantec Backup Exec Service Module delivers key new features:

  • Multi-site view, a unique capability that allows MSPs to monitor backup status across all managed sites from within the centralized Managed Workplace dashboard;
  • Support for multiple backup servers, which allows different types of backups to run on different backup servers with complete visibility on status within the Managed Workplace dashboard;
  • Support for both Backup Exec 2010 and 2012 products, allowing MSPs to monitor and manage their end-clients regardless of the version deployed.

In addition, the Service Module allows MSPs to see alerts generated and errors reported by Backup Exec, review the status of jobs executed, running or scheduled, launch back-up specific reports or start a diagnostics job and remotely access the Backup Exec server from within Managed Workplace. Combined with Auto-Monitoring and Persistent State Management features in Managed Workplace, MSPs can quickly and easily standardize, streamline and automate operations, isolate unique monitoring for specific devices, and utilize other advanced automation features to improve service delivery and lower operating costs. The Symantec Backup Exec Service Module is now available to Level Platforms Partners through the Update Center.

“With our expanding Vendor Alliance Program we are partnering with leading vendors, including Symantec, to establish Managed Workplace as the single platform for MSPs to manage the full range of technologies impacting the IT experience for their end-customers,” said Gordon Rielly, CTO, Level Platforms. “Our collaboratively designed Symantec Service Modules, including the updated Backup Exec and the soon-to-be-released Endpoint Protection Service Module, provide our Partners with a new level of insight, responsiveness and automation within their Managed Workplace workflow so they can better serve their end-clients.”

The Level Platforms Vendor Alliance program provides vendors the opportunity to create improved channel loyalty, a superior end-customer experience and expanded sales opportunities through a variety of product integration and joint marketing programs.

Numerous hardware, software and cloud services vendors enrolled in the Vendor Alliance Program are now developing Service Modules through Level Platforms Technology Integration Program (TIP). With the TIP program, vendors receive a complete software development kit (SDK) including APIs, sample code, help content and technical support required to develop a Service Module with minimal time and expense.
