STAR (Sensory Therapies And Research) Center, the premier treatment center for children with sensory challenges, is announcing a new SPD parent workshop series. This intimate education program is a two-part series for parents of children with SPD and speech and language delays.

All STAR Lecture Part One; The Art of Parenting a Child with SPD will provide parents with tools and strategies to help with challenges associated with SPD. “Having a child with SPD affects the entire family. Knowing the challenges and how to adapt or respond can help families thrive,” says Lisa Bolster, M.A, STAR Center’s Marriage and Family Therapist. Lisa helps families create healthy patterns of behaviors related to sensory processing, anxiety, depression, trauma, developmental problems and interpersonal relationships. She will be facilitating this lecture and discussing family dynamics.

All STAR Lecture Part Two; Understanding Early Childhood Speech and Language: Development and Delays will review speech and language milestones, the current best practices for speech and language therapy and practical and effective strategies that can be incorporated at home to help the child’s communication development. “Speech and language delays can be frustrating for the whole family.
