NJIT Announces New IT Project Management Course

Calling all IT Professionals who plan to take the PMI Project Management Professional or Certified Associate Project Management Exam.

This IT Project Management review course will cover how to optimize IT problem solving and delivery processes so that projects can be delivered on time and on budget.

NJIT’s Division of Continuing Professional Education announces the upcoming IT Project Management review course. This 35-hour course runs from May 6 – June 5, 2013 and takes place on the NJIT Newark, campus.

Since Project Management and Information Technology are multidisciplinary in nature, this course can benefit a broad range of professionals from all backgrounds and disciplines including: Business, Architecture and Engineering, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, and Finance.

IT projects have grown exponentially in complexity, scale, scope, budget and risk. Customers are more sophisticated and have a broad array of needs across numerous business processes, departments and value chains. This intensive course will teach sound project management principles and techniques from a PMP prospective across PMI’s nine key knowledge areas (scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communication, risk, procurement and integration) while addressing what project managers need to understand about managing and leading projects in business today.

The curriculum includes: best practices in navigating more complex organizations, diverse stakeholders’ requirements, and tighter delivery deadlines. Students will also learn strategies for preparing for the exam and for answering exam questions. A pre-test will be conducted in-class for each student to determine their own personal level of knowledge of IT Project Management. This course covers how to optimize IT problem solving and delivery processes so that projects can be delivered on time and on budget.

While the course will certainly prepare you for the comprehensive PMP exam with numerous exercises and practice questions, it has an IT flavor with significant real world emphasis with relevant examples and hands-on activities.
