Business leaders and creative innovators from around the world will gather in Montreal May 21 – 23, 2013, for the second annual C2-MTL business conference. Through an array of activities, including conferences with internationally-acclaimed thought leaders Sir Richard Branson, Bobbi Brown, Whole Foods Market’s John Mackey and more, this unconventional event promotes new ways of thinking in all industries through made-to-measure content and a unique, fully immersive experience. Conversations with speakers, workshops, roundtables and micro think-tanks complete C2-MTL.
C2-MTL (Commerce + Creativity Montreal) redefines the conventional international business conference and explores the commerce/creativity interface and its potential for revolutionizing the way people do business. Creative leaders and top executives are united in an immersive and wildly creative environment designed to inspire inventive solutions to business challenges. All C2-MTL participants are assigned their own personal concierge, whose mission is to set up one-on-one business meetings and ensure they get the most out of their experience.
“Last year's event exemplifies the success participants had in networking and forming lasting relationships, with more than $187 million in business deals being forged,” said Jean-Francois Bouchard, President of Sid Lee and Curator of C2-MTL. “We are confident this year will produce even stronger results with a wide cross-section of U.S. Fortune 1,000 business representatives attending, including executives from Chevron, Walmart, Burger King, KPMG, Red Bull and more.”
C2-MTL 2013 will explore the theme "Creativity is Everybody’s Business" through a series of interactive talks with internationally-renowned leaders, including:
- Sir Richard Branson, Founder, Virgin Group
- Arkadi Kuhlmann, Founding CEO, ING Direct
- Nicole Piasecki, Vice-President, Boeing
- Chris Bangle, Designer, former Chief of Design, BMW Group
- John Mackey, Co-founder and CEO, Whole Foods Market
- Bobbi Brown, Founder and CCO, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics
- Elle Macpherson, Founder and Creative Director, Elle Macpherson Intimates and The Body and Executive Producer and host of “Britain’s Next Top Model”
- Philippe Starck, architect and designer
- Fred Dust, Partner, IDEO
- Stephan Ouaknine, Founder and CEO, Inerjys
- Blake Mycoskie, Founder and Chief Shoe Giver, TOMS
- Tom Gentile, President and CEO, GE Healthcare Systems
In addition to the many hands-on workshops, participants will have plenty to keep them busy: the cutting-edge business magazine Fast Company will hold its eagerly awaited "100 Most Creative People in Business" event at C2-MTL; the Intel EYE-50 Challenge will search the world for the entrepreneurs of tomorrow; Sid Lee Collective's crowdsourcing Boot Camp will foster creative ways to promote Sir Richard's work to end the war on drugs; Opéra de Montréal and Cirque du Soleil will each present a unique creation for the conference; and many more.
A Unique Village Built for the Occasion
Unlike the typical hotel-based conference, C2-MTL will welcome its 2,000 participants in the unique Innovation Village, designed exclusively for the event to encourage alternative thinking. This year's venue is Arsenal, a former industrial building on the banks of the Lachine Canal that is now a stunning hub for contemporary art and cultural events. The Innovation Village features interactive exhibits, multimedia presentations and conceptual spaces that encourage C2-MTL participants to network outside the typical boardroom setting. Instead, participants can make business deals while doing yoga alongside the Lachine Canal, taking sunset bike rides or dining at Montréal’s best restaurants.
Curated by international creative agency Sid Lee and founded in partnership with the Cirque du Soleil, as well as media and content partner Fast Company, C2-MTL will be held from May 21 to 23. C2-MTL is a not-for-profit organization that seeks to reimagine the concept of the annual international conference to better explore the relationship between commerce and creativity, and its potential to redefine business. Every year, this immersive three-day event brings together innovators from every industry for an experience that makes as much use of the left brain as the right. Conferences given by renowned speakers, interactive exhibits, multimedia presentations, conceptual spaces, festive evenings, collaborative workshops, as well as a creativity Boot Camp are held in an innovative village designed exclusively for C2-MTL. http://www.c2mtl.com.
