Renewable Choice Energy (http://www.renewablechoice.com) today announced the beginning of the 2013 CDP Supply Chain Program reporting period. The firm has helped hundreds of companies complete their CDP Questionnaires and offers support to suppliers who have been asked by their customer to report to CDP during the April 1-July 31 reporting window.
CDP is an independent, non-profit organization that houses the largest database of corporate climate change information in the world. More than 3,000 companies from around the globe report their environmental impacts to CDP on an annual basis, and the group represents the interests of 722 signatory investors with combined net assets of $87 trillion.
CDP’s Supply Chain Program was launched in 2009. The program’s 54 member companies, which include Walmart and PepsiCo, among others, utilize the CDP to gather environmental impact and carbon emission data from their global suppliers. In 2012, more than 6,000 suppliers were asked to respond.
Renewable Choice helps suppliers advance their strategic sustainability goals by supporting the response to CDP requests, relieving the burden placed on internal resources by executing the disclosure of company emissions, climate change strategies, and current reduction activities to CDP.
“Responding to customer requests such as the CDP Supply Chain Program can be confusing and time consuming for many businesses,” said Matt Wood, Vice President of Consulting for Renewable Choice. “We help suppliers complete their CDP response, which can give them a competitive advantage as they compete for business, while simultaneously identifying opportunities to reduce environmental impacts and improve their bottom line.”
On average, clients working with Renewable Choice receive a CDP score 25% higher than they are able to achieve by reporting on their own. According to CDP, Renewable Choice has helped more companies report to CDP than any other consultant.
“The role CDP plays in advancing supply chain sustainability and environmental impact reductions is absolutely crucial,” said Wood. “It has been a pleasure to support so many companies and their suppliers in participating in the essential task of reporting to CDP.”
