Orbit Chemicals a leadeing chemical manufacturer installs Electrolytic Technologies Corporation's patented Klorigen technology for the production of membrane grade Sodium Hypochlorite and domestic bleach products.

A 20,000 litre per day capacity sodium hypochlorite manufacturing plant currently installed and operating at Orbit Chemical Industries Ltd. in Nairobi is being expanded to double the production of very pure, high concentration sodium hypochlorite (aka “bleach”). The expansion is under contract with the manufacturer, Electrolytic Technologies Corporation of North Miami Beach, Florida USA.

The Nairobi expansion is the second plant owned by the 700 strong employee-based company and is intended to increase its capability to supply commercial cleaning chemicals and hygiene solutions typically used in the potable water treatment, household disinfectants, cosmetics, food production and hospitality industries in the East African Community.

Speaking at the official commissioning of its Nairobi plant, the President of Orbit Chemicals, Sachen Chandaria stated that the plant was a multi million US Dollar investment and financed by NIC Bank under a 5 year medium term loan.

"We commissioned the first phase of the Klorigen installation in July of 2012 and by February 2013, recognized that there was sufficient un-served market to immediately justify doubling the production capacity to 20,000 litres per day. Electrolytic Technologies’ Klorigen® technology is ideally suited for this application and the efficiency coupled with ease of operation made it a natural fit with our other manufacturing operations. Klorigen® has one of the lowest “carbon footprints” and the purity of its bleach product meets NSF/ANSI Standard 60, the “gold standard” for water treatment chemical purity. Further, Klorigen® is the only chlor-alkali technology to have received Designation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology, attesting to its inherently safety and reliability." said Chandaria.

Electrolytic Technologies Corporation will supply the basic engineering design, all equipment as well as the technical support for the commissioning of the plant.
The President of Electrolytic Technologies Corporation, Derek Lubie expressed his appreciation of Mr. Chandaria’s confidence in Klorigen and said that having just completed an 80,000 litre per day bleach plant in Algeria - with two more orders pending, he felt that Africa is an emerging market and that the company was focusing on ways to tap into that growth.
