Med Page Today discusses a new breath test that can detect heart failure. Italian olive oil company Bellucci Premium reveals the heart healthy benefits of extra virgin olive oil.

On April 1, Natalie Sexenian, the marketing manager for Italian olive oil producer Bellucci Premium, responds to an article published by Med Page Today about a new breath test that could detect signs of heart failure.

According to Med Page Today, Cleveland Clinic discovered that analyzing a single breath could help diagnose heart failure. In a new study, researchers at the clinic found that looking at the amount of acetone and pentane exhaled by patients could determine whether or not they are at risk for heart failure.

Sexenian says the Cleveland Clinic study could help improve lives of elderly by obtaining quicker results.

Sexenian recommends people who are at risk for heart failure should consume higher quantities of Italian extra virgin olive oil. “Rich in antioxidants, vitamins and monounsaturated fatty acids, extra virgin olive oil is a great weapon to use to defend the body against heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure,” she says. “If you consume two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil a day, you could cut your risk for heart-related problems by almost a half.”

“Heart failure, usually caused by severe heart disease, can be prevented from maintaining a diet rich in extra virgin olive oil, nuts and fish,” she says. “This is called the Mediterranean diet. The extra virgin olive oil helps lower cholesterol, which is bad for your heart and can be used as a substitute for butter. While it’s high in fat, it’s high in the good type of fat containing oleic acid. It can promote the production of antioxidants and prevent heart disease. If people incorporate more Italian olive oil into their diet, they could really prevent heart problems later on in life.”

Bellucci Premium Toscano extra virgin olive oil uses olives that are grown on the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany, and maintained by 3rd and 4th generation farmers. Bellucci offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, that offers a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate. The third type of oil Bellucci offers is the world’s finest Italian extra virgin olive oil, grown only by Italian growers in many different regions of Italy.
