Founders of MUSE School CA, Suzy Amis Cameron and Rebecca Amis Proudly Announce: A Night of Discovery with James Cameron - A Fundraising Event Benefiting MUSE School CA’s ‘STEAM’ Program.

A Night of Discovery with James Cameron is a unique fundraising event organized to benefit MUSE School CA’s Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math (STEAM) Program. It will also be an experience of a lifetime, with the opportunity to meet James Cameron and see the vertically-deployed, bright green DEEPSEA CHALLENGER submarine he co-designed and piloted on his historic, 2012 solo dive to the deepest place on the planet, the Challenger Deep.

A small group of attendees will have the chance to view footage from Cameron's dive almost seven miles deep--35, 787 feet--into the largely unexplored and alien deep-sea trench. They will also have the opportunity to sit inside the submarine’s simulator and experience firsthand what it was like for James Cameron during his almost seven-hour voyage. An organic gourmet dinner prepared by Celebrity Chef and Restaurateur Susan Feniger, with a special selection of vegan cuisine from her Hollywood, CA restaurant STREET, will round off this very special, one-of-a-kind event.

About the DEEPSEA CHALLENGE Expedition:
James Cameron's DEEPSEA CHALLENGE expedition, a series of 13 dives and 19 free-falling lander deployments, was the first extensive scientific exploration in a manned submersible of some of the deepest spots on Earth. On March 26, 2012, Cameron successfully piloted the DEEPSEA CHALLENGER submersible system and science platform to the Challenger Deep, located in the Mariana Trench, 200 miles southwest of Guam. He returned with high-resolution 3D images and footage of unprecedented clarity, and collected sediment, physical oceanographic data and biological samples. Preliminary analyses have led to the discovery of 68 new species and contributed to our understanding of complex geological processes occurring at the trench axis, providing unique insight into extreme deep-ocean environments. The driving force behind the Expedition was to inspire public interest in exploration and in scientific investigation, especially among young people who will become our future scientists, engineers, and explorers.

"Diving to the deepest point in the Mariana Trench is something like riding a cramped elevator that starts in a steamy tropical forest and ends in the dead of night at the North Pole,” says James Cameron. "We know less about the deepest points on our planet than we do about the surface of Mars," he also explains.

In a recent announcement made last week, explorer and filmmaker James Cameron and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) have formed a partnership that will include the donation of the DEEPSEA CHALLENGER submersible to Woods Hole. DEEPSEA CHALLENGE was a joint scientific expedition supported by National Geographic and Rolex:
