Many companies do not know what to do with their overstocked items. One canopy distributor came up with the unique idea to alleviate some overstock and help out schools in their local jurisdiction. Ace Canopy kicks off their “Canopies for Kids” program on April 26. The function consist of the company visiting local schools, setting up a party tent and white canvas tarp, then paint them with the kids and teachers. The program is targeted around kids from kindergarten to fifth-grade. The company shows up, sets up a party tent as well as a 30 x 30’ canvas tarp and paint supplies. The kids dip their hands in paint and put their handprints along the bottom perimeter of the tent; then teachers put their handprints on the top perimeter of the tent. The handprints symbolize unity between students and teachers. The party tent is then removed and free-form painting is performed on the 30 x 30’ canvas tarp. Both the tarp and the party tent can be used for school functions and decorative purposes. The ideas brainchild was Ace Canopy’s CEO Michael Stein.
Stein says, “The canopies for kids” program was a great way for us to get in touch with our community. We had an overstock of 10 x 10 instant party tents and 30 x 30’ white canvas tarps and rather than just putting them on sale, we thought why not try to do something more important with these items.”
Guidance charter school executive director and cofounder Mr. Kamal Al-Khatib has planned the 1st canopies for kids program along with ace canopy sales manager Steve Benson. Mr. Benson has been working with school districts in the Antelope Valley area to promote the state wide events.
