The results of a recent survey undertaken by CTEK, a global manufacturer of battery charging and accessory products, revealed that one third of women (34 per cent) said they would not attempt to charge their car battery. Therefore, the battery care brand is advising female vehicle owners to be more confident with undertaking a maintenance routine and reminding them how simple and safe the activity is when using a smart battery charger.
Additionally, of the 990 women polled, 27 per cent responded that they have never charged their battery. These figures suggest to CTEK that female drivers are not only unsure what action should be taken, but also that they are not sufficiently aware of the benefits of attentive battery care. If a battery is properly looked after, the likelihood of a breakdown is significantly reduced and the unit can last for many years longer. Vehicle batteries should be treated in the same way as other vehicle parts, such as an engine or tyres.
A CTEK car battery charger does not require specialist knowledge to use and all models have been designed to be connected and safely left attached for days or even weeks at a time. Not only will the battery’s charge be maintained at its optimum level, steps in the charging cycle will remove sulphur build-up, which is one of the main causes for battery failure. For drivers who want an even more complete picture of their vehicle’s battery’s health, the CTEK MXS 5.0 TEST & CHARGE will also provide a simple diagnostic on voltage, start power and alternator performance.
Director of sales and marketing at CTEK, Katariina Stahl, said: “The results of our recent survey suggest that some women are not very confident about battery charging. What’s more, the number who have never charged their car battery highlights that many are not fully aware of the importance of a simple battery maintenance routine. Just connecting a smart battery charger every few months will make sure the charge level is optimal, that sulphur isn’t building up and the unit doesn’t become stratified. Put simply, this straightforward task will increase the battery’s life and storage capacity, avoiding an unexpected and costly breakdown due to battery failure.”
