Empire Digital Products applauds the Foundation Capital’s graduate student entrepreneur program and affirms the importance of teaching students how to start your own business.

On April 8, the founder of Empire Digital Products, a leading copier company, responds to an article published by TechCrunch describing a major venture capital firm’s entrepreneur program.

According to TechCrunch, Foundation Capital launched a Young Entrepreneurs Program that gives graduate MBA students a chance to act like a venture capitalist. This program allows 10 students from different universities to search for startups and convince Foundation Capital why they should invest, the article says. This year’s program includes students from Berkeley, Stanford, Harvard and Columbia.

Scott Brodsky, founder of Empire Digital Products, says it takes a long time to understand the lay of the land in the world of entrepreneurship. “It took a long time for me to create my own business and become an entrepreneur,” he says. “I worked my way up to a leading position for a sizable firm and moved on to start my own business. It took a lot of time and I had limited finances. I had to sell many of my prized possessions to make my dream a reality. Having more opportunities to experience programs like this could have made the transition a little easier.”

More successful companies should take the opportunity to mold students and teach them how to be business savvy, Brodsky says. “These programs, while highly competitive, breed awareness and skills necessary to succeed in business,” he says. “More companies should take students under their corporate wing to show them the ins and outs of the system. While I agree school is very important, real life experience is invaluable. The students lucky enough to get a feel for being an entrepreneur at big name companies, like Foundation Capital, are more likely to develop successful business connections.”

Empire Digital Products is currently one of the most well respected copier dealerships in New York. Their dual focus is on reducing overhead and enhancing document workflow. With the best service department in the industry and a very capable staff it is no wonder Empire has met with such success.
