Bethesda, MD (PRWEB) April 05, 2013
The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation announced the appointment of Cheryl Gorman as vice president of national programs. In her role, Gorman will be responsible for developing a strong team to create and deliver training and tools for the Harwood practice and to work closely with our national and community partners to design and implement strategies that support community change. This includes managing our Public Innovator Corps of Harwood Certified Coaches.
“The Institute is poised for significant expansion nationally, and I am confident that Cheryl’s experience and track-record of success will allow our organization to reach its full potential,” said Rich Harwood, president and founder of the Institute. “Cheryl combines deep knowledge of the Harwood practice with twenty-five years of experience in local, national and international partnership development and broad community collaboration that will position her to deliver on our promise to create meaningful and sustainable change with our partner communities.”
Gorman is a proven leader in bringing together diverse partners from all three sectors with community members to create community-based programs and large-scale change initiatives. Prior to joining Harwood, Gorman had her own consulting practice working with a variety of organizations, including the national HR Council of the Nonprofit Sector, the Caledon Institute of Social Policy, United Way of Canada and United Way Worldwide. She has held senior leadership positions at the regional and national level, such as executive director of TalentWorks and senior research associate with The Conference Board of Canada.
A committed volunteer who has served on local and national nonprofit boards, Gorman holds an M.A. in Organizational Management and Development and a Bachelor of Education.
“Working with our partners in previous roles has provided me with a clear lens for how the Harwood practice is used in communities and the transformation it sparks,” said Gorman. “I look forward to working with our partners to create even more impact in communities as we continue to innovate and scale our operations.”
