Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) April 03, 2013
On April 3, Yumi Media, a food website devoted to delivering the latest and greatest in food news, recipes, and products to incorporate into your own healthy lifestyle, responds to an article published in Tech Crunch announcing news that Chewse, a food delivery startup, acquired over $1 million in seed funding.
According to TechCrunch, investors like Chris Sacca and 500 Startups were just some of the individuals who contributed seed funding. Unlike some of its competitors, Chewse is focused on employees at the workplace. There is a large demand for delivery food from this demographic, but common concerns include timeliness of delivery, the hassle of placing an order on the phone and the quality of the food. Due to this reason, many workers bring in microwaveable meals, like Quorn, for lunch.
The restaurants on Chewse will be curated by employees to ensure that only quality establishments make the cut. According to co-founder Tracy Lawrence, “Customers see and trust that it’s curated, and they’re willing to try new things without worrying that the delivery is late or the food is terrible.” The first market Chewse opened was in Los Angeles.
“Chewse is going after a nice market with a large amount of spending power,” says Yumi media representative Justin Maas. “There is a large demand for quality delivery food during the lunchtime hours, and which Chewse is trying to tap into. Because Chewse is not available in all states, some employees will continue to choose healthy microwaveable meals like Quorn.”
