The wait is over for fresh frozen yogurt lovers inside the Beltway in Northern Virginia now that the newest Zinga Frozen Yogurt store in the country has its Grand Opening set for April 5-6 at Arlington’s Williamsburg Shopping Center.
The new store is owned by Zinga franchisees Bill Hansen and Kasi Hansen and is located at 2914 North Sycamore Street. The store manager is Drew Hafer. Store hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Phone: (703) 300-9074.
“It’s special for me and Kasi to open a store in our old stomping grounds,” said Bill Hansen, a Yorktown High School graduate and longtime local resident. Hansen indicated the new store would be involved with local charities and civic organizations, high school groups and local sports programs. And he’s adamant about the fresh ingredients, myriad offerings and ability to help consumers make healthful choices.
“We don’t use powder like a lot of our competitors,” said Hansen. “Zinga reminded consumers last month, National Nutrition Month, that Zinga’s basic self serve offerings of frozen yogurt, fresh fruit and nuts can help promote weight loss, as suggested by a 2011 Harvard study.”
Zinga Frozen Yogurt is self-serve and is sold by the ounce. The store will offer 12 yogurt flavors a day (including fat free and low fat) and more than 50 toppings. Some of the yogurt flavors include Bayou Praline, Birthday Cake, Blueberry Tart, Café Au Lait, Chocolate Mint, Granny’s Apple Pie, and Red Velvet Cake. For those who want a dairy free option there are sorbets such as Mango Tango, Pink Lemonade and Watermelon, to name a few. In addition, a no sugar-added flavor is available daily.
All of Zinga’s yogurt flavors meet the National Yogurt Association’s criteria for “live and active culture yogurt.”
Established in early 2011, ZINGA! “The World’s Best Frozen Yogurt,” is growing quickly in the self-serve frozen yogurt segment. Its franchise restaurant savvy leadership seeks successful franchise restaurant operators to become early entrants into the segment’s fast-growing concept. Zinga President John Fitchett said Zinga Franchise Group has 285 stores currently in development in 12 states. He projects 20 more stores to open in 2013. Fitchett’s lengthy career includes stints as area director, franchisee and vice president of development for large franchise restaurant chains.
