“To see the event grow to these epic proportions is really a testament to the power of women who saw an opportunity last year to squeeze the good out of this event and to help Hurricane victims."
Philadelphia (April 3, 2013) (PRWEB) April 04, 2013
The fifth Philly Swap Party will be held April 21st at the Hotel Monaco with a goal to showcase the good work of the Dress for Success organization and its efforts to further women clients on their journey toward economic independence.
The invitation-only event will run from 1-5 p.m. in the Hotel Monaco Grand Ballroom, 433 Chestnut St.
Attendees are encouraged to bring gently worn women’s clothing and accessories to swap for similar pieces to add to their closet. Any professional clothing left at the end of the Swap will be donated to Dress for Success, casual clothing to Philly Aids Thrift and dressy garb will go to the Pediatric Spring Prom.
A number of well-known companies are providing support and sponsorship for the event, including:
- Hotel Monaco – A Kimpton Hotel
- The Empire Builders Group
- McFadden Financial Strategies Group
- A.P. Orleans Risk Management
- Campbell Studios
- Half the Sky Leadership Institute
- Donna Coghlan Pasquale
- Gabrielle Santulli
- Lucas and Cavalier Attorneys at Law
The Philly Swap party started out as a casual “swap” among a dozen girlfriends several years ago as a good way to refresh spring and fall closets. Last year, Grace Killelea of Half the Sky Leadership Institute offered her Philadelphia condo common area space for the event which attracted over 150 women whose swapping folly yielded 47 bags of donated clothing and accessories to Hurricane Sandy victims. It had become clear the swappers had outgrown living room space. The success of the event fueled this year’s partnership with the Hotel Monaco and Dress for Success Philadelphia. Currently, nearly half dozen additional sponsors have signed on and the group is expecting more than 300 “swappers.”
Founder of the Philly Swap Party, Amy Larrimore, Managing Partner of The Empire Builders Group, said “To see the event grow to these epic proportions is really a testament to the power of women who saw an opportunity last year to squeeze the good out of this event and to help Hurricane victims. At last year’s event we knew we wanted to continue the charitable aspect and to work with an organization that could specifically help women. With the help of the Hotel Monaco and our other amazing sponsors, this is an incredibly fun event for those who participate, but an equally beneficial event for Dress for Success.”
