The manufacturer opted for ceramic over plastic on the new XLamp XQ family of mid-power LEDs.
(PRWEB UK) 8 April 2013
It has been reported in LEDs Magazine that the manufacturer opted for ceramic over plastic on the new XLamp XQ family of mid-power LEDs. The LEDs are built using third generation silicon-carbide. The new family includes the XQ-B LEDs and XQ-D LEDS which can handle maximum drive currents of 300ma and 700ma respectively. Director of Marketing at Cree, Paul Thieken, explains what makes the new lights unique.
“Unlike other mid-power packages, the XQ LEDS allow lighting manufacturers to meet their distribution requirements using fewer LEDs without giving up the performance or reliability that they expect from Cree’s lighting class LEDs.”
