Enhanced resident websites include Facebook/Google auto-login, amenity reservations, and gamification

Every element the user comes in contact with is intentionally selected for better conversion, higher completion, and lowest possible drop-off rate.

Property Solutions®, the multifamily industry’s only comprehensive single-platform technology provider, announced a variety of breakthrough releases to the new ResidentPortal™, with an emphasis toward increased adoption and hands-free integrated management. As the nation’s largest provider of apartment websites, Property Solutions delivers real-time integrated portals, equipped with advanced tools and fully customizable designs, at a rapid deployment. The new ResidentPortal brings a wide range of features to customers, including a UX-optimized navigation and interface, gamification, social elements, automated resident status banner alerts, and automatic login through Facebook and Google accounts.

In order to drive online adoption and interaction, ResidentPortal now employs gamification techniques through a system of virtual points and badges that reward residents for completing actions within the online portal. “Simple actions like setting up auto payments, completing surveys, referring friends, and updating their “Apartmates” community profiles are attached to points and badges that keep residents engaged and coming back to the portal—which is ideal because everything they do through the portal saves time and money for the property and its residents,” said Nate Babbel, Property Solutions’ Product Development Manager for ResidentPortal. “Properties can attach whatever tangible rewards they’d like to badges and the top point earners—things like prizes, special rental perks, or discounts—and residents can compete and see where they rank on the portal’s Leaderboard.” Residents also have the choice to opt-out within their account settings.

Due to ResidentPortal’s seamless integrations, residents see automatic account updates on their dashboard when logging in. “If they are late on a payment, have a package waiting in the lobby, or are even coming up on a lease renewal, our system recognizes those triggers for individual residents and intelligently displays a banner alert to let them know the very moment they sign-in,” said Babbel. “And these auto alerts come at several touch points: through pop-ups, dashboard banners, ResidentPortal’s message inbox, and email and text messages, according to their setting preferences. It is almost impossible for residents who are plugged-in to these alerts to miss out on important information.”

The new ResidentPortal places a strong emphasis on streamlined navigation and workflow. “Throughout the development and design process, every element that the user comes in contact with is intentionally selected for better conversion, higher completion, and the lowest possible drop-off rate,” explained Les Eldredge, User Experience Director at Property Solutions. A complete overhaul is also underway for the mobile version of ResidentPortal. “Currently, 30 percent of ResidentPortal traffic is by mobile device, and the new mobile-optimized interface will make it even easier for residents to make payments and submit work orders from their smartphone,” said Eldredge.

Additional features unique to ResidentPortal include auto-login through Facebook and Google, granting residents instant access to their portal without entering a username or password. In response to feedback from alpha clients, Property Solutions is adding a new function that allows residents to manage and submit community amenity reservations. Through ResidentPortal’s community clubs, residents can network with one another by joining and creating clubs, managing membership, and sponsoring events. Classifieds, event calendars, and a community wall are a few of the other socially-driven functions of the new ResidentPortal that help residents stay informed, get connected, and ultimately, retain and renew their residency through positive social experiences at the property.

The new version of ResidentPortal is currently open to beta clients, and it’s a free upgrade for all ResidentPortal customers.
