The Lemon Law is one of the strongest consumer statutes in the country and it enables consumers to fight back if they find themselves in a defective vehicle
Wilkes Barre, PA (PRWEB) April 04, 2013
WBRE TV, the NBC affiliate serving viewers throughout Wilkes Barre and Scranton, PA, recently hosted an interactive Lemon Law phone bank throughout its afternoon talk show PA Live and its evening Eyewitness News programs featuring attorneys, consumer advocates and ASE-certified automotive experts from the Lemon Law Firm of Kimmel and Silverman.
The phone bank allowed viewers to call in and speak with the experts on a variety of automotive topics. Live segments featured Lemon Law Attorneys Robert M. Silverman and Robert A. Rapkin and Automotive Consumer Advocate Michael Sacks. The segments featured information on how to enforce your Lemon Law rights and what steps can be taken to prevent buying a lemon car.
Notable topics that arose during the phone bank included the qualifications under the Pennsylvania Lemon Law, potential remedies, protection for used car purchases, and how to address defects which could not be duplicated by the dealership when the car is in for service.
"We are extremely grateful to the folks at WBRE TV Eyewitness News for providing us a platform to educate consumers about their Lemon Law rights," said Michael Sacks, Kimmel & Silverman's Director of Communications . "The Lemon Law is one of the strongest consumer statutes in the country and it enables consumers to fight back if they find themselves with a defective vehicle."
Several viewers who called into the phone bank were able to secure free legal representation for their defective vehicles. These viewers are expected to recover a repurchase, a new car, or significant monetary compensation. Those who qualified received completely cost-free legal representation under the fee-shifting provisions of the Pennsylvania Lemon Law and Federal Magnuson Moss Warranty Act. If they prevail, the manufacturer will have to pay all attorney fees and legal costs on top of what the consumer receives. Thus, there is no cost and no risk to filing the claim.
