Houston, Texas (PRWEB) April 03, 2013
Yellow Rose Distilling, LLC. (http://www.yellowrosedistilling.com), an emerging micro-distillery and Houston’s first legal whiskey distillery, is pleased to announce the results of the 2013 San Francisco Spirits Competition. Yellow Rose Outlaw Bourbon received a Double Gold medal in the small batch bourbon category. In addition, Yellow Rose Straight Rye Whiskey received a Double Gold medal in the category of American Rye Whiskey.
To receive a Double Gold medal, all judges must agree that the spirit is worthy of a gold medal. “No other Texas distilled bourbon has received Double Gold in the small batch whiskey category. We ranked high even against larger more established distilleries from around the country”, states master distiller Troy Smith. “Our rye whiskey also had strong competition as this category continues to grow. Yellow Rose Rye is remarkably smooth which sets it apart from others.” states Smith.
This year over 1400 spirits were submitted to the 2013 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the largest to date. The competition is one of the top spirit contests in the world where judges blindly compare spirits within a given category. It is rare for a small micro-distillery to compete so well against larger more experienced producers.
“We had no doubt that both products are unique to the spirits market. Customers have often mentioned that our whiskey’s are among the best they have ever tasted. It is exciting to see a small distillery such as Yellow Rose take top honors at such a prestigious competition” states Ryan Baird, partner at Yellow Rose.
Yellow Rose is currently available at Spec’s retail locations around Texas. For more information please visit http://www.yellowrosedistilling.com
