Houston, Texas (PRWEB) April 05, 2013
Yellow Rose Distilling, LLC. (http://www.yellowrosedistilling.com), an emerging micro-distillery and Houston’s first legal whiskey distillery, is pleased to announce a best in category award at the American Distilling Institute 7th Annual Judging of Artisan Spirits. Yellow Rose Outlaw Bourbon received a Gold Medal in the bourbon under 2 years category at this years competition.
The American Distilling Institute (ADI) awards are given to top artisan distillers from around the country. 127 whiskies were entered into the contest, along with other spirits from 124 small batch distilleries. All spirits are blindly judged based on nose, palate, finish and balance.
Troy Smith, Yellow Rose master distiller commented: “The ADI awards are important for the craft industry as they showcase the best of our industry. We knew the Outlaw Bourbon was a great product, but it’s good to see others agree!”
Bourbon was judged by a special panel that included Peggy Noe Stevens, founding member of Bourbon Women, Harlen Wheatley of Buffalo Trace, David Scheurich retired general manager of the Woodford Reserve Distillery, Richard Wolf a Spirits Consultant and Don Coffey of MGPI.
“This was our first year to enter the competition and we are very excited to see the results. Our bourbon was chosen the best in category by an esteemed panel of judges” states partner Ryan Baird.
