Microscan, a global technology leader in barcode, machine vision and lighting solutions, today affirmed its position that a patent infringement lawsuit (US District Court 13 CV 2027) filed against the company by Cognex Corporation of Natick, MA is without merit. The lawsuit alleges that Microscan's Mobile Hawk, a handheld product used to read Direct Part Mark (DPM) codes, infringes on a patent held by Cognex.

Microscan President, Scott Summerville, stated, “Microscan has made Cognex fully aware of its belief that the patent alleged is not infringed by the Mobile Hawk and that the relevant patent claims in any event are invalid. Microscan will be defending its rights to fairly compete with Cognex to the fullest extent available.”
